The Chicago bacon deep dish pizza. Pizza crust 1 package Betty Crocker pizza crust mix ingredients call for pizza crust such as water etc. For the bacon Tomato sauce. 1/4 lb diced bacon. 1/2 onion diced. 1 tsp brown sugar. 1 8oz red gold tomato sauce. For pizza assembly. 1 package mozzarella cheese. Reserved bacon from bacon Tomato sauce. Tomato bacon pizza sauce. Preheat oven to 400ºF grease an 9 inch pie pan set aside. In a bowl mix dough ingredients and oil bowl transfer to oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap and let rest 10 minutes in dark place. After 10 minutes flour dough onto surface roll into a disk and transfer to pie pan. Press into pie like shape. Parbake 7 to 8 minutes. Meanwhile in a small skillet over medium high heat add diced bacon and cook until crisp. Drain bacon bits on a slotted spoon add onions to bacon fat with brown sugar cook 5 minutes more pour in red gold tomato sauce cook 2 minutes turn off heat take pizza out of oven and spread bacon pizza sauce onto pizza crust then top with mozzarella, caramelized onions and bacon bits and return to oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. Allow to sit 10 minutes before slicing and digging in.
